Warsztaty pt. "Genomika bioróżnorodności: Perspektywy dla parków narodowych w Polsce” w Tatrzańskim Parku Narodowym!

On November 13-14, 2024, the Polish barcode of Life team, in cooperation with the Tatra National Park, organized a workshop entitled "Genomics of biodiversity: Perspectives for national parks in Poland".

In mid-November (13-14.11.2024), the KZBiH team (=national node of iBOL Polish barcode of Life - PolBOL) in cooperation with the Tatra National Park organized a workshop entitled "Genomics of biodiversity: Perspectives for national parks in Poland". The meeting took place at the TPN Nature Education Center in Zakopane. The event was related to the next stage of the implementation of the EU Horizon Europe project "Biodiversity Genomics Europe". The classes were attended by invited guests - employees of Polish national parks: Woliński PM, Słowiński PN, Kampinoski PN, Świętokrzyski PN, Karkonoski PN, Pieniński PN and Tatra PN. A total of 19 people.

For two days, Tomasz Mamos, Grzegorz Tończyk, Aleksandra Jablońska, Tomasz Rewicz, Gabriela Karlik, Sylwia Holak, Karolina Bącela-Spychalska, Piotr Falczewski and Karolina Biniek (representatives of PolBOL and KZBiH UŁ) presented how to quickly and easily recognize the unknown using molecular methods. Together with the participants, we discussed the prospects for implementing (meta)barcoding in learning about the biodiversity of protected areas.

According to the participants, the workshops were a good introduction allowing for understanding the need for molecular research in national parks.
